IDEAS: AI in Healthcare

AI LA is excited to kick off the second cohort of its Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity & Allyship in STEAM Program (IDEAS). IDEAS provides real-world opportunities to learn AI skills and earn money while you apply what you learn. This is your chance to get a head start to an AI career in healthcare!

You will be supported by a mentor network and your cohort is intended to keep you accountable. After graduating from the program, you will have the opportunity to work on a real world project and we will provide networking opportunities. Our competitive program is intended to increase access to AI learning opportunities and job training while diversifying the talent pipeline here in Los Angeles.  

HOW AI LA CAN HELP YOU?

There is no technology more reflective of its creators than artificial intelligence (AI). To increase the likelihood of AI products being representative of their intended users, we need to change the people building these products. Our competitive I.D.E.A.S. program is intended to diversify the talent pipeline here in Los Angeles.  

AI LA strongly believes that creating a culture of Responsible AI development that is accountable to users, prioritizes inclusion, and creates products that truly work for everyone must be reflected in the product development strategy of all stakeholders.

Fellows will be supported by a mentor network and your cohort is intended to keep you accountable. After graduating from the program, you will have the opportunity to join a social impact project and we will provide networking opportunities.

PROGRAM DETAILS

• a virtual cohort-based self-paced flexible AI for Medicine online course with weekly study sessions and active Discord server
• mentoring sessions twice a month with AI healthcare professionals
• professional coaching workshops on everything from how to build a resume and design thinking principles to prepare for internships at top startups and companies
• healthcare client project engagement to gain experience applying data analytics, machine learning, project management, and AI design skills for a healthcare client project

WHO SHOULD APPLY

We encourage all BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ professionals and students from diverse backgrounds who are typically underrepresented in equity-centered AI development to apply for this scholarship program.

You'll need a basic understanding of Python and are comfortable with statistics and probability.
